The surface wear of the drum directly affects the quality of steel wire. Rapid wear leads to the increase of production cost and the decrease of production efficiency. According to the base material, the drum can be divided into cast iron, cast steel, low carbon steel, high carbon forged steel, medium carbon steel and so on. Different wear patterns will appear when different substrate materials are treated with different surface treatments.
The wear resistance of the drum depends on the hardness of the surface coating and also on the strength and hardness of the substrate. The above 5 kinds of cast iron reels with poor matrix shear strength, wear resistance and adhesive wear resistance are all poor. Low carbon steel rolls with soft base material have poor resistance to plastic deformation. The wear resistance of the medium and high carbon steel drum with high strength and hardness is obviously better, especially after the secondary surface hardening and surface coating treatment of the medium and high carbon steel drum is better, and the drum is in a low wear state for a long time.
The supersonic flame spraying process is used to spray carbide coating on the surface of drawing drum, drawing machine, drawing wheel, wire wheel, drawing cylinder, drawing reel, guide groove and other parts. The surface hardness can reach HRC68, which is far higher than the wear resistance of abrasive steel or cold cast iron. The base of these parts can also be made of ordinary steel or cast iron, which not only reduces the cost, but also prolongs the service life.
