Plasma spraying is carried out by plasma arc, ion arc is a compressed arc, compared with the free arc, its arc column is small, the current density.
The gun uses a non-transfer arc: a plasma arc generated between the cathode and the nozzle. In this case, the positive electrode is connected to the nozzle, the workpiece is not charged, and an arc is generated between the cathode and the inner wall of the nozzle, and the working gas is heated through the arc between the cathode and the nozzle, causing all or part of the ionization, and then emitted by the nozzle to form a plasma flame (or plasma jet).

The powder delivery design of the SG-100 gun allows it to deliver powder at low pressure in the powder feeder, unlike some guns that require a high pressure powder feeder, which improves process stability.
